Various Roadshows were conducted
by the Managing Director of UEM Builders to brief staff of the Group's new strategic directions and how it should move forward. The Roadshows were held at the Group's Head Office at Faber Towers on 6 January 2006, at Slim River, Perak for the Central Region on 14 January 2006, at Yong Peng, Johor for the Southern Region on 25 February 2006 and at Seberang Perai, Pulau Pinang for the Northern Region on 1 April 2006.

 

Implementation of Short Message Service (SMS) system or Anytime Communication (ATC). A plug-andplay mobile messaging gateway for the Group to extend messaging functions to all staff.

UEM Group Continual Improvement
Competition 2006 (CIC 2006) was held, offering unique opportunities to the companies in the UEM Group to learn from each other's success in implementing continual improvement activities to improve bottom line performance. 7 teams from UEM Builders participated in this competition.

PROPEL's Safety Campaign launched simultaneously nation wide at PROPEL's Depot in Dengkil, Selangor by the Chairman of PROPEL, YBhg. Tan Sri Mohd Sheriff bin Mohd Kassim, attended by invited guests and senior management staff.

UEM Group Sports Carnival 2006. The theme was “Together We Strive” which brought togetherness through sports among of the employees from the UEM Group. Amongst the games participated by UEM Builders were futsal, badminton, bowling, volleyball, netball and football. The final event was held at UNITEN in Bangi.

The 30th Annual General Meeting of UEM Builders was held at Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.

Penang Bridge Run 2006, the premier run in Malaysia was held to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the opening of Penang Bridge.

UEM Builders Corporate Golf Tournament 2006 was held at KLGCC, Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur participated by Board members, senior management staff of UEM Builders and invited guests.

Merdeka Parade 2006 was held in Balik Pulau, Pulau Pinang. Penang Bridge Sdn Bhd was placed sixth under the Private Sector Category in the parade participated by 101 contingents.

Launching of Young Executive
Scheme (YES) Programme by Y.B. Senator Tan Sri Nor Mohamed bin Yakcop at Putrajaya International Convention Centre. The program presents an excellent opportunity for graduates to learn new skills and equip themselves with the relevant knowledge and experience.

Sukan Kerja Raya 2006.
Representatives of Penang Bridge Sdn Bhd participated in the games which were held at Universiti Utara Malaysia, Sintok Kedah. The bowling team won 1st runner-up and the volleyball team clinched the bronze medal whereas the carroms team managed to qualify for the quarter finals. Other games were golf, football, 'sepak-takraw' and darts.

Official launching and award presentation ceremony by YBhg. Dato' Ahmad Pardas Senin for the Employee Suggestion Scheme (ESS) Programme. “We move forward with your ideas” is the ESS tagline that enables all employees to put forward their opinions, views or suggestions to the Management.

A Hari Raya Gathering was jointly organised by Penang Bridge Sdn Bhd (PBSB), UEM Construction Sdn Bhd, PROPEL and PATI Bukit Perak. The orphans from Rumah Jagaan Nasyiatul Aisyiyah, Balik Pulau were invited to the occasion. PBSB donated RM40,000 to Pusat Urus Zakat, Pulau Pinang and the mock cheque was presented by YBhg. Dato' Dr Norraesah Hj Mohamad, Chairman of PBSB to a representative from Pusat Urus Zakat, Pulau Pinang.

Penang Second Bridge by the Prime Minister, Y.A.B. Dato' Seri Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi at Batu Kawan, Seberang Prai, Pulau Pinang.

Staff Annual Dinner 2006 was held at Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Theme for the night was “Starry Starry Nite”.
